Excellent for training staff to ensure for progression across KS2 of the reading skill areas (to ensure retrieval in Year 3 vs Year 6 look very different in teaching) and to keep as a prompt when coming up with questions for use during reading skills lessons to know how questions can be worded for the different reading skills.</p>

<p>This resource contains a ready made KS2 reading skills training presentation, alongside a skills progression document for KS2 reading skills. The presentation refers to the skills progression document but also looks at how reading skills should best be taught at KS2 as well as some ideas for methods to teach the reading skills. The skills progression document sets out 7 key skills for children to be able to do in order to be successful at KS2 in reading. It includes example texts and questions, including the ways these should be answered for all of these key reading skills.</p>

The pictures are to promote discussion and vocabulary before reading the text itself (not included - would need to download the relevant SATs paper). The 2 slides of questions from the SATs paper (the retrieval questions and summary questions) as well as an extra challenge of summarising the text in 50 words or less.</p>
