The Middle Passage - Transatlantic Slave Trade

This lesson will teach students about the Middle Passage which enslaved Africans had to endure before starting their lives in slavery in the Americas. It covers the trauma and difficulties millions of enslaved Africans had to experience whilst highlighting the brutal nature of the voyage. Other parts focus on helping students to articulate the level of detail they need to include when offering evidence to supprot a statement in history. By the end, students will able to describe what enslaved Africans had to face during the Middle Passage and be able write about it in a detailed way.

This is a fully resourced lesson which includes a printable information sheet containing the primary sources as well as a worksheet to help students engage with the lesson tasks.
