Comparative Bar Chart Worksheet

(4)
The two names in the data set are the location of our school's different campuses, but obviously can be amended to whatever fits your setting. The worksheet also contains a checklist to remind students of key elements when constructing bar charts. I&'ve found this works particularly well as a scaffolded activity with students struggling with presentation, or as a homework. As an additional little challenge, there is no scale given either so students have to deduce this from the data set and example given.

Mean and Modal Class of Grouped Data Worksheet

(3)
Scaffolded activity ranging from basic calculations in a full grid to sorting raw data into groups to then analyse. There's also an in-built extension task for students to compare the actual mean with the estimate for question 4 and explain why. [Edited: Q1 corrected from 20-30 to 20-29 11/3/14]

Frequency Table Worksheet

(2)
A simple hand-out of three data sets and a blank table to fill in the frequency of each number occurring. It's important to stress marking off each number as you go along for correct tallying technique as students could just count each number to fill in the table. There is also an extra column to either work out the cumulative frequency or to collect values to find the mean from a frequency table.

Angle Starter Activity.

(2)
10 quick angle questions. 5 to measure and 5 to draw. The angles are all rotated too to help students appreciate an angle as a measure of turning. This is a good starting point for discussion too as the direction isn't specified either.

Pythagoras and Right-Angled Trigonometry Practice

(1)
Interleaved resource to focus on effective method-selection in right-angled triangles. There’s a mixture of Pythagoras, right-angled trigonometry and finding missing angles in right-angled triangles so learners can practice effectively deciding what maths is needed when. Primarily for use as a revision exercise or to consolidate prior learning.

Equivalence Number Lines

(2)
An activity to place fractions, decimals and percentages on a number line in the correct order to spell a word. Works well as a consolidation exercise for KS3 or as a starter for KS4. The two .pdf files are copies to print and photocopy, whilst the word document contains a template to alter the amounts and/or the solution word to your own students' needs.
