Simple lines for writing with Easter-themed borders. Could be used for writing a prayer or an information sheet on the festival of Easter etc. We have also used these for the inside of Easter cards that the chn made for their parents.
The children used chalks and pastels to create a firework picture on black paper. They also used onomatatopoeic words to describe them and we made a lovely display. This was the wording that went up on the wall with the pictures.
Really simple and basic worksheet where the children roll a dice, record the number rolled then find one more and one less. Used for my really low ability Year 1's. Hope it&'s useful :-)
This was used to get to know my new class on our 'Meet the Teacher&' day. It needs to be double-sided and folded like a book. The children draw their face on the front like a real passport photo, and inside tell you some things about themselves. I used it as a short, fun writing activity to help me gauge their writing abilities and level of support needed, then also used them as a nice welcome display at the start of the new school year. Hope it&';s useful :-)
Classroom display for the Here I Am unit: Freedom and Responsibility. Includes title words, LO's, key questions and some lovely images downloaded from Google that represent freedom and responsibility. Bit thrown together but hope it&'s useful! I am using this in my Year 1 classroom but you could adapt this for any age group - remember to check in your Here I Am file and change the LO&';s accordingly ;-)
Anneena, Nadim, Wilma and Wilf. These were the names of the children's four Literacy ability groups. I had velcro strips underneath each character and moved the children&'s names as needed from group to group. Hope they are useful for someone.
We have a fish tank in our classroom and class fish to care for, so I produced these rules for display. I go through them with each new class that comes through. Hope they are useful.
We collected data on the children's birthdays in the class then used these questions to explore the data further. Can be personalised for the data you collect, may be more appropriate to use other months etc depending on your class month spread. Bit basic but does the job! Hope it&'s useful :-)
I have double-sided these and laminated them for use during phonics. Each child has their own one with their name on. During phonics the chn use them to write on with their whiteboard pens. They love having their own and I've found it works perfectly. Sometimes I tell them how many sound boxes the word needs, sometimes I let them tell me. Hope they are useful!
A little idea I tried with a lively Year 1 class. They responded really well. I had their names on velcro and moved them as required. I also had a big smiley sun that they stayed on if they were good and anyone on the sun at hometime earned a sticker. They were the kind of class who needed to visually see a process of consequences. They responded well to a few chances to redeem themselves. May not be effective for those children who need more of a zero tolerance approach...every class is different. Hope it helps someone anyway :-)
Lyrics to Cliff Richard's &'Summer Holiday&';. I used it at the start of the new school year to get the children thinking about their summer holiday. We did a two-week transition topic on holidays. Could also be used for the Year 1 Seaside's topic or for a holiday assembly etc. Hope it&'s useful :-)
A simple letter from Santa. The children in our school posted letters to Santa in a school post box and parents provided a stamped-addressed envelope. We sent these back to the children. Hope you like! :-)
