Kate Grenville - "The Secret River", FULL Chapter Summaries

(0)
A revision resource designed to help students maintain understanding over all the events of the narrative of "The Secret River". This is aimed at my GCSE students but could be used from y9-13. The page references come from the Canongate 2011 edition.

Summaries 1, 3 and 4 are page-by-page; summaries 5-8 are by event, but are still very detailed.

Accompanying all summaries bar the first are recap and analytical questions to help structure students' responses and help them prioritise key sections. These questions are pitched at GCSE-level and range across the ability spectrum.

Some of the summaries have elements highlighted in yellow or coloured in red font: this is designed to indicate which sections are developed further in the full scheme of work (also available to purchase). These chapter summaries are included in the full scheme of work. There is also no document "2" as the numbers indicate sequence in the SOW - pages and parts are indicated in the document title.

SOW Tasks: "Beloved", Toni Morrison (KS5)

(0)
These documents comprise a long-list of tasks designed to explore key areas of Toni Morrison's text, "Beloved". Generally grouped in chapters of three, questions are set around key A-Level English Literature assessment objectives, and offer a wide variety of choices under theme, characterisation, context, imagery, form, structure and perspective, of various complexity to assist differentiation for all students. Given directly to students, the document is an excellent independent-study guide, or works well as a menu of essay/reflections questions to answer; for teachers, the resource represents a directory of tasks from which to formulate and personalise a scheme of work. Designed to be used as the foundations to a SOW for OCR English Literature A Level Component 3, questions also included highlighted examples of preparatory cross-comparison questions, in this instance with Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire". A PDF copy is also included. All page references come from the London: Vintage (2007) edition.
