<p>These are the final 2 lessons in a set of 13 based around Hazards for Key Stage 3.<br /> Lessons are designed to last 1 hour and should provide a challenging introduction to Hazards.</p> <p>L12. Wildfires: covers definitions, location, causes, fire triangle, types of wildfires, and briefly introduces students to the impacts of wildfires.<br /> L13. Managing Wildfires: Knowledge test. Covers managment techniques, mainly through a Decision Making Exercise in which students work in teams with a set amount of money and options to select in order to save a town from a wildfire - teacher plays through scenario on board and clear instructions/timings are provided in the ‘notes’ section of the powerpoint. Discussion task and extended writing to review the task.</p> <p>Lessons have weblinks and resource sheets attached to powerpoint. Tasks have green pen answers to support marking and feedback. Spelling test and homework included. Split/differentiated tasks and challenge tasks throughout.</p>

This numerical 'countdown to exams' chart begins at 99 and counts down to 1. The rows of numbers are various shades of colours from green (99) to red (1). I use this in my classroom to countdown to exams with the colours intended to indicate when/how much revision students will be doing. Can be printed and laminated to use on a classroom wall.

Infiltration Testing: students are introduced to surface permeability and recap other key aspects from the water cycle (L3) e.g. surface run-off. Mini-fieldwork forms the main section of the lesson. Set up includes rules of fieldwork and how to conduct ‘fair fieldwork’. This can be completed on school site or at home and simply needs bottles of water. Observation recording sheet attached.<br /> L5. Flooding: definitions of flooding, causes - linked to prior learning e.g. surface permeability. Mini case study - York Floods 2015 used as the basis for an extended writing activity (Wikipedia format). Peer-assessment grid included to review activity and green pen modeled example included to guide students.<br /> L6. Climate: definition, climate zones. Climate graphs - explanation, including a set by set visual creation of a climate graph and differentiated tasks in the form of a part started graph. <p>These are 2 lessons in a set of 13 based around Hazards for Key Stage 3.<br /> Lessons are designed to last 1 hour and should provide a challenging introduction to Hazards.</p> <p>L7. Assessment: this includes a question paper (and full mark scheme) aimed to assess students progress with this unit. This has been placed mid-unit to fit in with school timetable and reduce end of half-term workload but could be used at the end of the unit. Questions range from shorter one mark/multiple choice to longer written responses using a photo source. Several skills marks are available e.g. climate graph completion and analysis. This assessment is designed to be marker friendly and students will be able to self/peer mark many of the questions with ease.<br /> L8. Feedback: this includes a powerpoint with mark scheme that students can work through. This could be used as a peer assessment opportunity as model answers are provided. Further stretch/review questions are included and the assessment has reflection space e.g. WWW, targets.</p>

<p>This printable A3 worksheet has 100 boxes for students to fill in a definition a day in the run up to exams. The boxes are colour coded by topic area to allow students to vary their revision across the 100 days.
