<p>I have selected key words from each chapter of the novel to pre-teach children before reading the chapter to them. The posters can be used on the boards, printed and displayed or put into large vocabulary books.</p>

<p>A complete unit of work to use alongside sketchbooks to build a progression of skills to inform design choices and end product. Children will have the opportunity to look at work and art of William Morris and the techniques he adopted. Children will research and plan work using sketch books and use ideas to create an end print of a flower. The sketchbooks will allow the children to explore, colour, shape, patterns and practice techniques. They will also have the opportunity to use ICT software to create wallpaper designs. They will then evaluate using ‘design, refine, develop’ success criteria.</p>
<p>Sentence strips to use to scaffold and support writing and zooming in template sheet to help improve sentence quality through adding additional features such as adjectives, a relative clause etc.</p>
<p>Children will be shown to accept that all emotions are valid and part of being human and how to manage them with activities linked to the picture books ‘Unlocked’ by Tiny Owl Publishers, ‘A Shelter For Sadness’ by Anne Booth and David Litchfield and the poetry anthology ‘A menagerie of emotions.’</p>
<p>A series of sessions to complete using Martin Stanev and Flying Eye picture book. Ideal for a week of lessons on the return to school after the summer holiday.</p>
<p>In this unit of work Children will have the opportunity to explore primary and secondary evidence relating to the Windrush economic Migration. They will look at where the Caribbean is and compare it to the UK. Children will have the opportunity to use atlases to explore the route taken by the boat and the economic and social reasons around the migration. During the sessions, they will also look at the stories of people arriving, the work of the poet John Agard and produce art inspired by the mini topic.</p>
