This is a detailed PowerPoint, aimed at key stage 3 students to introduce them to African drumming.
The students learn how to ditate and write their own rhythms. They also learn how to use texture and structure to create their own African drumming compositions in groups.
I have included videos of myself modelling as lesson 1 is very much teacher led. It would be best if these were watched in advance and you then deliver the content of lesson 1 yourself rather than playing my videos to the class as it will be more engaging and less stop-start if led by you.
An assessment booklet is also included.
Within the lessons, the students also learn an African song (link to YouTube video included), which they eventually sing in a 2, 3 or 4-part round.
The scheme is a great introduction to key stage 3 Music.
