This is a complete Scheme of Work for Year 8 Music, based on the characters in Mulan. It includes a Student Work booklet, a Homework Booklet, and a Teacher Guide with 5 x full lesson plans, supported by 5 x PowerPoints, and answers for the homework tasks. Please watch the promotional video to see exactly what you can expect when you download this comprehensive learning package.
The project is fully resourced, and fully differentiated based on the legacy level system (Level 3c to Level 9/ Exceptional Level), which has renewed meaning in light of the new Level 1 to 9 GCSE grading system, and it includes a fully detailed display-ready level criteria that is extremely useful. The work book is based on the progression through Levels 3 to 7 by performing traditional 2-part Chinese Folk tunes (in pairs), designed to be performed on tuned percussion instruments, but they can easily be performed on keyboards instead. There is a wealth of cultural information within the tasks themselves, from instruments to emperors and legends! Beyond Level 7, students can attempt an exciting TV show task or an in-depth Chinese composition – each of which can be simplified to provide access to all levels of ability, not just Level 7+ students. There are listening and composing tasks in the homework booklet, with 18 x MP3 audios included. Overall, there are 12 x homework tasks, up to 7 x main tasks, all of which are differentiated into 3 tiers of outcomes. All of this comes with a full 6000-word teacher guide, structured lesson-by-lesson, and supported by 5 x PowerPoints with clear objectives and outcomes, and 5 x editable Sibelius files for the performance tasks, which can be used for modelling purposes. To cap it off, the Teacher Guide includes detailed suggestions as to how you can extend this project to up to 9 lessons using the resources already contained within the project!
