Edexcel A Level Music AoS3 (Film) Section A Revision

Set of 12 Section A questions for each movement of Psycho and Batman Returns with answer sheets. Total marks for Psycho = 122; total marks for Batman = 64.

This resources tests students on different styles of questions that may appear in Section A of the Pearson Edexcel A Level Music exam. The set includes practice questions for each of the eight movements from Bernard Herrmann’s score to Psycho, with musical details and a little evaluation to get students thinking ahead to Section B. The set also includes practice questions for each of the four movements from Danny Elfman’s score to Batman Returns. At the end of each section is a reflective section for students to complete based on movements and question styles, with an action plan to improve.

Most questions can be completed with the audio only, and time stamps are given to refer to specific parts of the track (links attached to each question heading). Students may use a score to complete the questions for Psycho: The Murder.

Alongside the questions, this resource includes some suggested answers. As with the sample material from Pearson Edexcel, longer questions may accept other answers that are not written in the indicative content, at the discretion of the teacher.

Teachers may use this resource in class, or in assessments. Students may use this as a revision tool, or intervention work to completed in or out of class.
