Learning Aim A, is divided into two sections: A1 – Business Ideas and A2 – Purpose and Structure of the Business1.
Starter Activity: The presentation begins with a thought-provoking activity about the implications of half of the world’s population never having used a telephone.
Business Plan Definition: It defines a business plan as a formal document outlining the intentions and purpose of a business, including its goals and how they will be achieved.
Business Ideas: This section discusses how business ideas can emerge at any time and can be justified in various ways. It includes examples of ‘start-up’ businesses that identify gaps in the market, monitor competitors, follow current trends, and anticipate likely demand.
Developing Business: It explains the need for businesses to evolve over time to maintain market share and meet consumer expectations. Factors influencing business development include changes in the economic climate, trends, and competition.
Purpose and Structure of the Business: This section emphasizes the importance of having a clear purpose and structure for any business, regardless of its size. It discusses different types of business structures (flat, matrix, hierarchical) and how location can influence a business’s purpose and structure.
Evaluation, Justification, and Synthesis of Business Ideas: The presentation concludes with a discussion on the importance of evaluating, justifying, and synthesizing business ideas. It highlights the iterative cognitive process involved in making informed business.
Activities: Throughout the presentation, there are various activities designed to engage students, such as reviewing the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak on Virgin Atlantic, summarizing business failures, and exploring local high streets.
