GCSE (9-1) Business location task

This is a simple activity which relies upon access to computers. I’ve found it to be really good with my Y10 students who have been really engaged by it.

Students have to search for a suitable restaurant premises in a local town for the Italian chain, Franco Manca. The search involves:

1. A numerical question where students calculate the size of property required.
2. Identification of factors that affect location.
3. Research into three suitable properties with an overall conclusion supporting the best option.

I tell my students that they are going to present their results to the Managing Director of the company. This activity takes my students 2 hours to prepare and 1 hour to deliver.
