This lecture and supporting classroom resources are part of the “History of Popular Music” package. House was created by DJs and music producers from Chicago’s underground club culture in the early/mid-1980s, as DJs began altering disco songs to give them a more mechanical beat. The lesson covers all this and how House music quickly developed into one of the most successful popular music genres and the first EDM style (Electronic Dance Music).

You can also purchase this resource, along with others in the massive Bundle “History of Modern Music: Pre-1950 to Modern-day”.

The presentation is more than 50 slides, each with an eye-catching design for better student engagement and also linked to classroom tasks that feed in and work along with the presentation. Moreover, throughout the presentation, there are really useful embedded YouTube examples, with links to the videos to support and aid learning.

The presentation comes in both .pdf and PowerPoint versions, along with a video version that can be used for revision and student home study. Moreover, all elements of the resources have been developed in Google Slides. This can be used for remote learning and easily allow for digital submission of the learning tasks included.

The resource also comes with 2 classroom tasks/worksheets with extremely useful listening and research exercises that link with the presentation/lecture itself, along with answer sheets for these exercises. There are also a further 2 Infographics/Posters (also with PowerPoint versions included), great to aid learners’ understanding of key areas, and also can be printed for classroom displays and visuals.
