A lesson which revises Mr Birling and considers the question: Some believe that the male characters in ‘AIC’ are unlikeable, capitalist and selfish, however, others think their actions are justified, they are simply products of patriarchal society to which they belong and are essentially harmless.

KS4 lesson; one hour in duration. Suitable for more able and mixed groups (fully differentiated).

Lesson activity: use of Twitter screen shots with task (which symbolises Mr B most?); challenge objective and key words; quote quiz; introduction of question; initial thoughts on question in relation to Mr Birling - plan out ideas; class reading of key Mr Birling pages - adding to the plan/ question response; plenary is a choice of a mild, medium or hot question on Mr Birling.
Lesson taught in wider context of preparing students for their spoken language component.
