In the template provided complete the following:

1. In column 1, copy the clue word from the list below (A list of 27 clue words and preterit /imperfect conjugations is provided).

2. In column 2, indicate if the clue word is preterit or imperfect (write P or I)

3. In column 3, write the subject, and in column 4, write the conjugation (preterit or imperfect)

Part 1: Complete the preterit / imperfect identification table with the guidelines above.

Part 2: Write 10 original sentences (5 preterit and 5 imperfect) using the guidlines and template provided.

Answer key is included on page 4 for part 1 only (clue words and tense indication: preterit or imperfect). For column 3, 4, and part 2, student answers will vary.

This practice can be used for classwork, homework, review, or study guide. Students can also do this practice in pairs or small groups.
