This resource has been designed for students working towards the AQA Entry Level Certificate in Maths who are working at Entry Level 2. It contains an age-appropriate, 145-slide PowerPoint lesson on fractions.
This resource will help pupils to achieve these outcomes:
identify one quarter and one third of a shape
identify one quarter and one third of a quantity
work out one quarter and one third of a number
count in halves, thirds and quarters
understand the equivalence of a half and two quarters
work out amounts two, three or four times the size of a given amount
use fractions to solve real-life number problems
The editable PowerPoint lesson explains all the skills needed to achieve the above learning outcomes. There are many examples and opportunities in the PowerPoint for students to practice and apply their fraction skills. It also contains links to several short videos on fractions and example fraction exam questions. It is ideal for introducing students to this component of the specification and for revision purposes.
