I'm going to trial this with my Year 10s and 11s - to try and encourage more talking and am going to extend this to other topic areas. When doing controlled speaking assessments, my students struggled at times with unpredictable elements. Please give me some feedback.

I definitely agree that it's the spontaneous speaking that needs lots of extended practice. Thank you for sharing this - I will certainly use. One thing I think that helps with spontaneity is speeding up the processing of the questions themselves, so I'm trying to work a lot on activities where they ask the questions as I have found that anything they can ask spontaneously they can always answer.
