Year 5 maths - regular and irregular polygons

This is a 1 week unit exploring the properties of regular and irregular polygons. It was created for a Year 5 class but could be adapted for most key stage 2 classes.

I have included 5 x in depth flipcharts (Activinspire), as well as 5 days worth of resources for children working at age related expectations and for children on the SEND register working on personalised targets.

There is no plan included, as the flipcharts are quite self-explanatory and detailed. However the LO’S covered are as follows:

-Describe a range of regular polygons.

-Describe a range of irregular polygons.

-Find similarities and differences between polygons.

-To solve problems using a range of polygons.

• To create a tessellation using a range of polygons

You will need shapes for the children to explore and to complete the mystery bag activity on day 1.
