I am a Year 5 teacher in a large primary school in Sheffield. After completing a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies degree, I embarked on a primary PGCE and graduated in 2017. Since then, I have taught in Year 4 and 5 and am currently art lead. I also established and manage a 'Secret Friend' initiative to support staff wellbeing. My aim is to create engaging and creative lessons that promote discussion and are linked to children's interests wherever possible.

My Year 4 class loved these 2 PSHE lessons about guilt and hurting people’s feelings. I would say that the resources are suitable for year groups 3/4. The first lesson is an interactive courtroom drama lesson and includes a lesson plan, flipchart and activity resources. The second lesson has an Inside Out theme and is all about understanding how we might hurt others. Again, it includes a lesson plan, flipchart and activity resources.

I received excellent feedback for this enquiry-based lesson about D-Day- and the kids loved it! I would say that this lesson could be adapted for any year group in KS2. However, I planned this lesson for a mixed ability Year 4 class. I started a learning sequence about mixed and improper fractions with this introductory lesson. The lesson focusses on recapping what a fraction is visually and clarifying that there are proper, improper and mixed fractions. I use the bar model to write what fraction can be seen, both as a mixed fraction and an improper fraction, so that children can clearly see that they can be written as both. Children are then given an improper fraction or mixed fraction and asked to colour it in on a bar model or create their own diagram. The lesson includes a flipchart (Activinspire) and a task (3 parts). If you would prefer the flipchart to be exported to Powerpoint, please let me know!

A 2 week unit of English lessons based on the children’s film, ‘Up’. Lessons are interactive and lead up to writing a recount of the old man’s journey. Suitable for year 3/4- my current class have really enjoyed the activities and the visual element of these lessons! Includes: Flipcharts for 8 lessons 2 week plan We look at expanded noun phrases, similes, emotive language, using our 5 senses to describe and planning a recount. There are role play opportunities and letters from the old man to engage children. Please note the flipchart is in Activinspire format. If you require Powerpoint instead, please just let me know!

This unit was planned for a mixed ability Year 4 class but could be adapted to suit Year 3 to Year 5. I received excellent feedback from observations for these lessons and they ended up being used across lower key stage 2 classes. Most of the lessons are quite practical and enquiry-based. In terms of the flipchart, I have used the Bitstrips app to engage children. I have included: In depth mid-term plan (6 week block) Flipcharts for 6 lessons 6 weeks worth of activity resources

This is a 1 week unit exploring the properties of regular and irregular polygons. It was created for a Year 5 class but could be adapted for most key stage 2 classes. I have included 5 x in depth flipcharts (Activinspire), as well as 5 days worth of resources for children working at age related expectations and for children on the SEND register working on personalised targets. There is no plan included, as the flipcharts are quite self-explanatory and detailed. However the LO’S covered are as follows: -Describe a range of regular polygons. -Describe a range of irregular polygons. -Find similarities and differences between polygons. -To solve problems using a range of polygons. To create a tessellation using a range of polygons You will need shapes for the children to explore and to complete the mystery bag activity on day 1.
