Goes through how to simplify algebraic fractions. Also states how to factorise linear and quadratics when simplifying, with questions on each. This has been used after a recap lesson on basic fraction calculations, and will be followed up with a lesson on solving algebraic fractions, covering identities.

One of seven lessons covering adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing algebraic fractions. The power points can be used on their own to introduce and provide practice examples on algebraic fractions. They can also be used to provide revision notes or help for pupils who have been absent from class.

Practice questions, homeworks and assessments
Three algebraic fraction codebreakers to solve with the usual terrible jokes. They are of increasing difficulty so choose the one appropriate to your needs.

you are an absolute godsend among maths teachers!!! not just for the maths but also for the great corny jokes my students are wondering how I have so many of LOL :D Thanks for helping me look semi-funny in front of my students while they work their socks off again to figure out what new joke they get to groan at (they have taken to competing against each other to see who gets there first !!)

First a worksheet that has them simplifying fractions that only requires factorising into single brackets. Then a domino task on two.

Ideal for GCSE revision, this worksheet contains the full range of exam-type questions that require students to simplify algebraic fractions by factorising. Questions gradually increase in difficulty with the last row being particularly challenging.
These review sheets are great to use in class or as a homework. They are also excellent for one-to-one tuition and for interventions.
For similar-style revision sheets on other topics, click š tes.com/../more...
Answers are included, as is a NEW STYLE of PowerPoint, which allows individual questions to be selected for enlarged display onto a screen. The answer can then be worked out āliveā by the teacher (or student) or a single click will reveal my solution. This not only helps in class, but it is also very useful for a student who is revising at home š.

Dounble homework this week for Clive as he tackles algebraic fractions; he's having a complete nightmare to be honest. Can your class help him out and explain where he's gone wrong? These are designed for starters or plenaries and encourage discussion in class. The second sheet is at a higher level (quadratics etc) than the first.
