Places in town - vocab match up and exercises

(11)
For a very low ability FCSE French group, but would be suitable for lower year groups. Would be good for cover. Match up key vocab. Simple reading task (checking understanding of il y a and il n'y a pas de). Matching places to activities with 'on peut'. Font size is massive so you can print 2 sheets per page.

Holidays past tense read and run (vert)

(1)
Read and run activity for bottom set Y8. 4 fairly straightforward texts about holidays in the past tense, with 15 questions for pupils to answer in teams by reading the texts around the room. The last 3 questions require them to answer in French by finding the correct phrase.
Travel to school - aller + transport
-myrtille--myrtille-

Travel to school - aller + transport

(3)
Lesson introducing the verb aller and different methods of transport. Doesn't involve loads of drilling of aller, but exposes pupils to the concept of irregular verbs. They should be able to use 'je vais' 'tu vas' and 'il va' and just be aware of the other forms.

EDIT 17/09/17 - Updated version of these resources and resources for higher ability can be found here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/les-vacances-higher-ability-ks3-holidays-topic-11272132 and here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/year-8-les-vacances-expo-2-module-5-updated-11067410 (for some reason this old one seems more popular but I think people just aren't finding the newer ones). EDIT 24/06/14 - Added some more lessons to Powerpoint and a couple more worksheets. For Year 8 groups on Expo 2 Module 5. First couple of lessons - countries, nationalities, saying where you usually go and where you went last year. Puzzle sheet and link to consolidate on a Friday afternoon. More lessons will be added as I go along.

Expo 3 Module 4 - Les gens comme nous -vert/Rouge
-myrtille--myrtille-

Expo 3 Module 4 - Les gens comme nous -vert/Rouge

(7)
Powerpoint resources for the 1st 5 lessons on this topic with a pretty good bottom set who will be taking French to GCSE. Focus on revising/consolidating vocabulary from previous years (introducing yourself, physical description) but also using the imperfect tense just in the 'je' form. Aimed at a largely 'Vert' class but some crossover with 'Rouge' due to inclusion of imperfect.
Les vacances - modal verbs and relative pronouns
-myrtille--myrtille-

Les vacances - modal verbs and relative pronouns

(3)
2 lessons for a top/middle set Year 10 class. Focus is on getting pupils to write good sentences to include in controlled assessment preparation, exposing more able pupils to advanced structures without making it too scary for those who struggle more. EDIT: Just to say that several of the slides come from other TES resources so many thanks if you spot your own work.

Year 8 - Manger et boire - Expo 2, Module 4

(32)
Updated 25/3 - More lessons for Vert added. Resources for the first few lessons on this module with 2 different classes. Covers similar ground but more quickly for Rouge (they have fewer lessons) and with tenses. References to reading tasks may be other files I have uploaded here. I have taken a few slides (mostly typed up textbook resources) from other resources found on TES so thanks if that was you!
Le petit dejeuner - Reading

Le petit dejeuner - Reading

(10)
Reading task based on Expo 2 Vert p62 but extended (I have added an extra text and broken down the activities more). This is for a low ability group so begins with the basics - recognising food words they have done and underlining them. Then they have to identify which person mentions which foods, and there are some extension questions for the more able in the group to move onto.

For Year 8 low ability group on pancake day. Links in with current module (just starting food and drink - Expo 2, Module 4) but includes some cultural aspects on la Chandeleur and Mardi gras. Main idea for resource (pictures and vocab) taken from another TES resource (http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Les-cr-and-234-pes-6071144/) but I have added to it to keep my class busy for a whole lesson.

Clothing - school uniform - modal verbs - Expo 2

(2)
Year 8 lesson for pupils following Expo 2 Rouge. Already done modal verbs (invitations and excuses) and clothes. Combine/consolidate in this lesson. 1) discuss uniform in France/watch clip. 2) key vocabulary - things not allowed in school. 3) categorise statements with modal verbs (can, must, can't wear) 4) does the statement apply to England or France? For part 3, statements are on individual slides as I send pupils slides on iPads (pdf version attached for those who have this option). But can easily be adapted.

Reading task - where you live and are from
-myrtille--myrtille-

Reading task - where you live and are from

(1)
A reading task I made for a Y9 bottom set beginners Spanish group who have been learning Spanish for about 10 weeks so far. The main aim is to recognise the difference between 'soy de' and 'vivo en' with place names, but there's plenty of added detail to make it a bit more challenging. I&'ve made the font size big so it can be copied 2:1, giving A5 sheets.
