Colourful Semantics resource for the text ‘Mrs Noah’s Pockets’ by Jackie Morris - using who, doing, what, when, where, and describe elements of colourful semantics. Great for use as part of literacy lessons on sentence structure or as explicit colourful semantics interventions.

This lesson is suitable for Year 3-4 pupils and focuses on giving/receiving change, giving the opportunity for role play. It works through giving change from 10p/20p for significantly below expected level learners, up to buying multiple items within £10. The lesson includes a PowerPoint presentation, a task sheet (differentiated 4 ways) and answer sheets.

This lesson is aimed at KS2 learners to practice their tonal shading and observational drawing skills. They will complete a tonal drawing ladder by adding layers to each box, before completing an observational drawing - I chose to bring in Quality Streets for the learners to observe up close, but this could easily be adapted. The lesson includes a PowerPoint and the tonal ladder template.

This lesson is for Year 3-4 (LKS2) learners, teaching the question ‘Beth wyt ti eisiau bwyta?’ (What do you want to eat?) in Welsh. This could be an extension of ‘Beth wyt ti eisiau?’, ‘Beth wyt ti eisiau wneud?’ or even ‘Beth wyt ti’n hoffi?’. Learners will complete their tally chart, recording which food their peers would want. They can then create a block graph to present their results. This cross-curricular lesson uses mathematical skills as well as developing learners’ Welsh language skills and oracy skills. A lesson aimed at Year 3-4 pupils, discussing how to assess and plan for risks. We used this as a part of our topic ‘Everybody’s Invited’, planning for a party at school but this could be easily adapted to any topic. Resources includes PowerPoint and PDF file of task differentiated 3 ways.

This resource will support you in holding a circle time/P4C (Philosophy for Children) style discussion about inclusivity. We used this as part of our ‘Everybody’s Invited’ topic, to discuss to what extent we could ensure we were throwing an inclusive party. This comes under the RVE (Religion, Values and Ethics) curriculum in Wales and can be adapted for other topics easily.
