Balloon Debate template
Balloon debates are an active assessment strategy whereby students are asking to think or to discuss which character they would like thrown out of the balloon, and why. So it's a variation on odd-one-out and is a potentially powerful way to stimulate engagement and debate.
For example, in an English/Literacy lesson, that characters names might be from a particular text or they might be to do with grammatical terms e.g. Full Stop, Colon, Semi-Colon and Hyphen. In a Biology lesson, they may be: Heart, Lungs, Brain and Liver. Who should be thrown out of the balloon and why? There is not necessarily a right or wrong answer - is the engagement with the concept which is most important.
This template offers teachers a quick means to create Balloon Debates.
