A differentiated worksheet where pupils calculate the magnification of a microscope: Bronze = eyepiece lens x objective lens Silver = converting between quantitative units (millimeters, micrometers, nanometers, picometers) Gold = using image = actual x magnification Differentiation built within each task (Bronze, Silver and Gold) to really challenge pupils. I printed this sheet off and cut into task strips, with pupils target grades/working at grades determining the task they do. I have also known teachers to get pupils to self select the task based on retrieval practice score or a starter activity.

An engaging and fun resource targeted for Year 6 pupils who will be making the step from primary to secondary school. Pupils attempt the 'Alien Missions' (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) to not only prepare them for Science at KS3 level but also to inspire them to enjoy Science and understand that Science is comprised of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The Biology mission is a research based task, whilst the Chemistry and Physics missions contain practical aspects. The final page of this project is then an assessment of the 3 missions pupils complete (using Blooms taxonomy - state, describe, explain).

For all educators using Activate textbooks and SoW. At the beginning of each topic, provide KS3 classes with a wordsearch containing all of the keywords for the upcoming topic - this saves pupils writing them out in the glossary as they can stick the A5 wordsearch into their book. It also provides pupils with visual segregation of each topic in their exercise books.

A knowledge based quiz for the new 9-1 AQA Combined Science Trilogy Award GCSE. A fun and engaging way for pupils to interact with the key terms and words associate with the B6 Homeostasis Inheritance, Variation and Evolution topic (Biology Paper 2). These are used in my school as starters and in revision sessions. Pupils record their score each time the quiz is completed to evidence progress. Repetition is key and the more times pupils can do these, the more likely they are to recall the facts and knowledge in the examinations.
