Powerpoint and resources used with my top set Y10 class to teach AQA Paper 2 Section A (Q1-4). 3 paired non fiction sources included, themed around child labour, disease and protests. PPT works through each pair of sources looking at Q2, 3 and 4 individually for each. Level 4 model answers included on some slides.

A revision booklet made for Y11 that focuses on annotating several key quotations from Blood Brothers, Walking Away and Mother, Any Distance. Space provided for pupils to write a short response to exam Q. I use these booklets as a form of revision with all abilities. They can either be given out to complete at home, or used with a visualiser for direct instruction.

Contains key quotations for key characters, key themes and settings, writer’s ideas and intentions, and detailed information about context (poverty, workhouse, crime and Industrial Revolution). Language and structural features also included alongside definitions.

A cultural literacy lesson aimed at Y7 Pupil Premium students. Lesson covers key information about Shakespeare and emphasises importance of improving cultural literacy. Card sort activity of common Shakespeare words/phrases and their meanings. Worksheet included- students collect answers to questions throughout lesson and write down any new vocabulary and definitions.

A PowerPoint of 7 lessons covering the descriptive writing aspect of the new AQA Language exam. Covers a range of descriptive features that can be used to answer Q5 of Paper 1.

3 revision lessons for Romeo and Juliet. Lesson 1- general revision of plot and key quotations. Lesson 2- making references to prologue. Lesson 3- key scene analysis.

Booklet of key quotations for R+J and ACC. Students can work their way through key quotations for each text, building up their analysis through annotations. Each section is followed by an exam style Q and room to write a short response.

An AQA style mock exam for Paper 2 Section A themed around protests. Uses an eyewitness account of the Peterloo Massacre and an article about a recent protest in Paris.

A knowledge organiser for Shakespeare’s tragedy, 'Romeo and Juliet’ Contains key quotations listed by character, key themes and symbols, Contextual information (Elizabeth I, patriarchy, astrology and religion), Shakespeare’s ideas/intentions and some key subject terminology for language/structure/form. Could be laminated and left on tables or printed and glued into books.

A knowledge organiser for Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Contains key quotations for each character and the island itself, key themes, contextual information (WW2, Cold War, Original sin, Freud) and Golding’s ideas/intentions. Boxes with key language and structure devices also included.

Full PowerPoint for all of the AQA Power and Conflict poems. Lessons cover each poem and how to write comparative essays. Each lesson begins with detailed AO3 context and is followed by AO1 and AO2 skills. Some models included.

A SOW exploring the play over a whole term. Lessons are focused on both reading and writing skills- including analysis, evaluation, writing from a character's perspective and writing non-fiction. Each lesson has a clear LO with a planned starter, main and plenary. (Some lessons have multiple options to choose from). Challenge tasks at included for the more able students.

Complete revision guide for AQA Foundation paper

In line with new English GCSE AOs focused on subject terminology, I have created a wall display for classrooms. All key grammatical and linguistic terms are dealt with. Can be printed and laminated to go around room borders, or stuck on one board to form a terminology wall.

A powerpoint used to deliver a training session on plenaries. Uses ACRE to consider how plenaries are best used in lessons. Includes a quiz about what makes an effective plenary and top tips for trainees/NQTs when planning their own plenaries.

Probably the most detailed and comprehensive scheme of work you will ever encounter. I wrote this scheme for KS3/crossover into KS4. It covers the whole novel within the time frame of the autumn term (12 weeks). All 42 lessons use a range of reading strategies in order to decode the text. The scheme also includes a range of non fiction sources to help students understand the context and interpret meaning. Roughly 11 lessons out of the 42 are for creative writing and ask children to put themselves into the shoes of either the author or his characters. All lessons have multiple choices for starters and plenaries, as well as a varied range of approaches to actually studying the text, and all sources are provided.
