You’re probably starting your Year 6 maths with a unit on Number and Place Value. Here are two activities (one for your MA and the other for LA) to start the year off.
Percentages lesson aimed at year 6 children. Begins with teaching pure percentage of number questions, then word problems. Involves teaching children about simple and compound interest rates. A lesson which will stretch your HA children. May require calculators as some questions are very challenging.
Three documents:
A Curriculum Overview for Y1-6
End of Year Expectations for Y1-6
Progression Map for Y1-6
A complete PSHE curriculum for Y1-6 with the inclusion of the RSE curriculum (2020) that should be taught in summer term. A reminder that the sex education section is the only part of the curriculum that parents can withdraw from - relationships education is compulsory.
Lesson plans aimed at year 6 children (can be adapted to suit younger KS2 children) on Natural Disasters/Hazards. This unit of work was created to support children’s understanding of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Hurricanes. Many activities are hands on and have cross curricular themes running through them. Children will be able to act out a hurricane talk show, create a volcano from basic materials, design posters and information pages for staying safe, and engage in group and whole class activities. There are 5 lesson plans within this, as well as the accompanying activities needed. No ppt, smart or flipcharts attached. I hope this helps with your planning!
