It is an assembly based on Acting out Gospel Values and Catholic Social Teaching (CST). I deliver it at the start of every year to all year groups, as a refresher and insight into the Catholic Life of school. I lead a groups of students who for the Spiritual Life Student Council (SLSC), they lead and take part in assemblies, masses, services, charity events, work in other local schools and retreats and reflections. This is a great way to get involved and allows students to develop their leaderships, communication and other vital skills; which they can put on their CV. Students are fully trained and receive a certificate of achievement as well as key skills learnt. It is a reflection service based on Year 11 Exam Stress. The theme is; we are all UNIQUE! It is a full service bundle, containing the essentials for a engaging, effective and relaxing service. The service itself is designed to help students reflect on the good, the bad and what they want to achieve in the future. Recognising that they are UNIQUE. With time for self-reflection and meditation. It is perfect for a whole year group, during form time or a lesson should you wish to. Although it is based on Year 11 and exams it could be adapted for any year group. Included is a PPT containing everything needed for service, all the music and videos are imbedded for full effect. A Word document is also included, containing a plan for the service and all the reading which correspond with the numbers on the slide in a blue box, in the top right corner. It is a PowerPoint, that contains thunks and questions that students need to think about to find an answer or solution to the question. They could also be used as a stretch and challenge activities or as a plenary at the end of the lesson. A good idea, would be to print these off and display them around your classroom - as this would help students to prepare for their learning and become and independent learner, by thinking outside of the box. However, sometimes it can be difficult to find new creative ways, that students will find fun and engaging, making sure that they can understand key parts of the lesson and what has been learnt. But, also making sure that you know what they have learnt and what you need to help them with. Students can use this in independent, paired and grouped worked activities to assess their learning (AfL). I would display these around the classroom and have an A3 sheet on each student desk so that they can refer to it when completing tasks. Students should mainly use this to think more when completing tasks in lessons or even homework tasks at school or to wider their knowledge of specific topics. Hope this helps your students learning.
