This is a lesson type assessment at the end of the study of the novel “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, focused on writing an investigative article exposing the case, as a non-fiction writing task mirroring English Language Paper 2 (non-fiction) for AQA.

This folder contains a complete SOW for the module ORIGINS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE targeted at KS3 year 7 & 8. There are 20 complete lessons with PPT, worksheets and video files, as well as a Reading Assessment in lesson 11 (Middle English) and a Creative Writing assessment, which the pupils will really enjoy. I have run these lesson as part of our online learning time during lockdown 2020 and they are created to keep the students focused all the time, with short tasks expanding into longer ones… The content of the lessons will go from the Evolution of English Language to Middle English and a focus of a few lessons on Chaucer, as well as the Reading Assessment, and later to Michael Rosen and Language Evolution, as well as Semantics, Idiolect, Sociolect, Degrees of Formality, and Accents and Dialects. This is a lesson that goes hand in hand with my Narrative Perspective lesson, as the students work with the same picture stimulus. I would do this lesson before the Narrative Perspective lesson.

This is a complete lesson (8 slides) where students will practice various narrative perspectives, using a picture stimulus. They first work with an exemplar photo and aim to identify all possible perspectives, then they have a go at one picture of their choice and write a description using a character’s perspective. They can peer assess at the end. You can use this for the Creative Writing task of your GCSE exam qualification.

This is a lesson focused on Second Person Narrative, as this is the most challenging for pupils to create for their creative writing task of GCSE exam. This is a 10 slides ppt and there is an extract attached, which is one short story written in second person. Pupils have a short exercise to change the narrative voice, then analyse the use of some interesting devices, then an application to a picture, which for this example is from An Inspector Calls.

This is a lesson about how to prepare for writing a Dual Narrative for the PAPER 1, Question 5 of AQA GCSE exam (the creative writing task!). This is a 10 slides lesson, where pupils will work in pairs, then in groups of 4. I hope it will help them understand what a dual narrative is and how to go about creating one.

This is a lesson’s worth of work after the initial reading of Chapter 9 in Jekyll & Hyde novel. The pupils will have the opportunity to re-visit parts of the chapter and evaluate ideas using PEED paragraphs.

These are 2 ppt for Act 1, scene 5 of MACBETH, where we meet Lady Macbeth. You can spread this in 2-3 lessons, depending on the ability of your class. You have the various extracts to print embedded in the powerpoints. I hope you’ll like it.

This is a lesson for year 7, to get to know them better and to create a first class display. You will need some A5 coloured paper for the neat version of what they have to write and you can display it later on shaped like a cloud… I hope you’ll like it, as my pupils are loving it.
