Wallace And Gromit: Say Cheese! Revision/Cover Lesson

This is a one hour lesson designed as a revision task for KS3 students. It includes a powerpoint, audio examples, a starter, differentiated objectives and worksheets for students to complete. The content covers reading sheet music, and basic revision on the notes of the treble clef and basic rhythm symbols. There are extension tasks that cover ledger lines, dotted notes, rests and tied notes in more detail for more able students. The secondary task can be either a performance (solo or duet) task, or a sequencing/composition tasks intended for use of software such as Garageband. The theme tune for Wallace and Gromit is split into a melody and harmony line to input or play at the learner’s level. This is very good for independent learning, but I am also confident in using it as a cover lesson too. The plenary includes a thumbs up/down activity and saying “cheese” for the differentiated selfie-obsessed generation.

Cadences: Fun Resource

A super resource for any year group. Very flexible, it could be a lesson plan, homework, revision, or cover work. The slides are made to a high standard with original designs animated to be appealing to young people. The resource seemlessly guides pupils through the topic of cadences with visual and audio scaffolding built into the PowerPoint. (I have uplaoded all mp3s seperately, just in case!) The audio examples of cadences have two versions. One as normal, and another with the key degrees of the scale emphasised to teach pupils what to listen out for in recognition. As well as examples there are FIVE guess the cadence questions based on pure chords, and an additional FIVE worked into a musical phrase (as you would get in any exam board).

This resource is a wonderfully engaging and flexible tool for any music teacher. It can be used by a wide range of year groups, key stages and exam boards. Any pupil will engage with the original animations, and seemless flow from one slide to the next. This would make a great lesson, revision tool, homework or cover work for a music class. There is a handout provided with dyslexia friendly font. The resource covers intervals, a guessing game round (slides can be further copied and pasted in random orders for variety) and three GCSE/challenging melodic dictation phrases in the style of an exam. All audio is built into the PowerPoint but I have uploaded the files seperately for your further use.
