OCR GCSE Composition Booklet Template
This booklet is designed for students (and let’s face it SLT/OFSTED) to track their progress in working towards their composition coursework. It includes pages on target grade achievement, a working check list, a half-way through the project reflection and marking space, and an end of project assessment. It can be adapted for any area of study and includes a space for you to customise key points students need to focus on.
My students enjoy having all their work in one place, and my own observers comment that it is “easy” to observe their progress and reflection in a subject their not familiar with.
*Please note the grade boundaries supplied are based off of the 2017 grade boundaries which of course you can edit year to year.
**The check list is my own interpretation of the specification and is not verified by any exam board.

Wallace And Gromit: Say Cheese! Revision/Cover Lesson
This is a one hour lesson designed as a revision task for KS3 students.
It includes a powerpoint, audio examples, a starter, differentiated objectives and worksheets for students to complete. The content covers reading sheet music, and basic revision on the notes of the treble clef and basic rhythm symbols. There are extension tasks that cover ledger lines, dotted notes, rests and tied notes in more detail for more able students.
The secondary task can be either a performance (solo or duet) task, or a sequencing/composition tasks intended for use of software such as Garageband. The theme tune for Wallace and Gromit is split into a melody and harmony line to input or play at the learner’s level. This is very good for independent learning, but I am also confident in using it as a cover lesson too.
The plenary includes a thumbs up/down activity and saying “cheese” for the differentiated selfie-obsessed generation.

KS4 Rhythms of The World Card Sort
Here is a handy resource for revision of all the instruments and foreign-language terms needed for the OCR Rhythms of the World unit (or for the thrill of learning).
There are three ways of completing this task for the delight of your students.
Print on card, Trim the edges, and fold each row into a two sided card. Punch a hole through, and create a “revision keyring” with an elastic band or piece of string.
Print on card and completely mix up the definitions and keywords for them to sort together. As an option, they could glue the correct sides back to front and then make their keychain.
The most challenging: Print on card and only give them the keyword side of the card sort. Ask them to write the country the word belongs to, and the definition on the back.
I’ve included both a word document and a PDF for ease of printing,
