This is a fantastic, fun game where children select numeral cards to make 3-digit numbers. Learning about place value in an engaging and interactive way. Suitable for higher Year 2’s, Year 3’s and Year 4’s. Place Value can be tricky for young learners to understand, yet it is such an important skill to allow them to do so many other mathematical concepts. These are great colourful resources to allow children to follow 2 step patterns. Copy the patterns by using shape counters, by drawing/colouring or by cutting and sticking the included shapes. Also included are ‘continue 2 step pattern sheets’ which children have to work out what will come next to complete the grid.

This is a great game which not only requires children to take turns and learn in a fun way, it encourages higher order thinking. Learners have to listen to the questions read out to them and try to solve the problem by finding the fraction. However, in many cases the fraction needed is the lowest possible equivalent fraction. The first person to cover their game board with coloured counters is the winner.
This is a great powerpoint activity showing how to use addition to find equal amounts, ie 4 + 1 = 5 and 3 + 2 = 5 so both are equal (the same as).
