The Stakeholder Game Your team are the management of Jorge hoping to build on the company’s previous success over the coming months. Your team have a list of 28 possible strategies for Jorge. You are going to choose one strategy for each month for 1 year. You can not choose the same strategy more than once! Each time you choose a strategy you must bring your choice to the tutor at the front of the class where your choice will be given a score. Each strategy gives a score (between -4 and + 4) for each of the 5 stakeholders listed. Your score is an accumulative total of the scores of the Customers, Suppliers, Employees and Government. Your team must try and get the highest score possible.

As a group they have to decide on how many crates they are going to sell and how much they are going to sell per crate, remembering that the maximum was £10,000 each month. The price per month must go up in £1,000s.

This activity aims to get students thinking about how businesses make location decisions. The activity touches upon issues such as bulk-increasing products and fixed and variable costs. Resources needed: Per group, you will need: • The location map • A key • The Costs and Revenues Information Sheet • At least two copies of the Costs and Revenues Worksheet • The business scenario Teaching and Learning Strategy 1 Put students in small groups. Mixed ability groups may work well here. 2 Give each group a Location Map, the Key and the Business Scenario. 3 Ask students to choose one set of co-ordinates on the map on which to build the workshop/showroom. Stress the workshop (where the tables are made) and the showroom (where the tables are displayed for customers to view) must be on the same square as they will be on the same site. The location cannot be on the same square as competitors, customers or the forest.
