A Powerpoint covering six lessons (86 slides in total). Pupils learn how to use the gridding method in order to draw an accurate portrait of a celebrity. Pupils then learn about layering and blending colour pencil and tints and shades in order to add the colour wheel to their portrait. The pupils who completed this unit used colouring pencil but this could be easily adapted to watercolours instead. Assessment for learning is signposted throughout. Suitable for KS3.
A series of 5 lessons suitable for KS3. Pupils are introduced to the work of Josh Bryan and Luke Dixon and complete a dry-mono print portrait which they go on to fill with 'triangulations' and 'zentangle' patterns. Step by step instructions and pictures are included.
These lessons really helped to improve the accuracy of pupils' line, pattern and mark making. Completing zentangle patterns is also a very therapeutic exercise and can help pupils manage their stress.
A detailed PowerPoint (consisting of 92 slides and covering 6 lessons) exploring the artist Georgia O'Keeffe. The final outcome for this project is an oil pastel, chalk and ink resist piece- ghosted images of O'Keeffe's flowers and shells are provided for extra support but the project could be extended and pupils could draw their own final outcome.
This project was very engaging, learning objectives are clear and there are clear links to colour theory. Peer assessment, self assessment and teacher assessment is also included (including sheets to provide feedback with). Differentiated questioning strategies include a 'Pokemon' themed scoring system whereby pupils collect Pokemon and answer more challenging questions in order to 'evolve' their Pokemon.
SEND descriptors with corresponding strategies. The strategies given are clear and concise. This would be a useful tool for both newly qualified teachers and more established teachers who simply need fresh ideas and/or reminders.
A PowerPoint presentation to be used alongside a life drawing session, starter includes a range of observational drawing techniques (continuous line, non-dominant hand, blind drawing) and main task(s) focuses on value and negative space. Suitable for KS4/5.

A series of 4 lessons that take you through creating the a cast of a hand, using mod-roc, and finally adding zentangle pattern to the hand. Step by step images and visual examples.
I also filled the mod-roc casts to create plaster casts of the hands, which you could have older students do or do for your students. However, you can just apply the pattern directly to the mod-roc once it’s dried using pen (for example, felt tips or sharpies).
