This school assembly presentation explores the history and evolution of Halloween, starting with its origins in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain and its transformation into All Hallows’ Eve. The presentation highlights key Halloween traditions, including costumes, pumpkin carving, and trick-or-treating, explaining how these customs developed over time.
It also provides important safety tips for children participating in trick-or-treating, emphasising the need to stay with an adult, remain visible, and check treats before eating them. The presentation offers insight into how Halloween is celebrated in different countries, such as the USA, Mexico, and Japan, illustrating the diverse ways people observe the holiday.
Additionally, the presentation covers how Halloween has changed over the years, becoming a fun and widely celebrated event with modern twists like costume parties and themed decorations.
To add a creative touch, a Halloween poem is included, capturing the excitement and fun of the holiday. The presentation concludes with a reminder to enjoy Halloween safely and celebrate in the spirit of fun and tradition.
I have used this resource with my class and the children produced some excellent work afterwards. I’ve included a planning overview, session by session worksheets and Smartboard resources. I’ve also included the display board working wall resources that go with the unit of work.

The bundle includes: working wall LO’s, differentiated small steps tasks based on the White Rose Math Hub model, a pre-assessment task (which identifies if a child is ready to start at the fluency or apply level) and a final assessment task.
