Part 6 of an eight week scheme of work to accompany students' first reading of the play in preparation for their AQA English Literature examination. This is the final part of a 5 week unit of work preparing students for their AQA Paper 1 English Language exam. A PowerPoint guiding teachers (and students) through all the activities is included. In this week students are introduced to the skills required for the Narrative Writing question and given planning and preparation materials for writing a story about a case of Mistaken Identity. There is also a Skills Booklet using an extract from ‘The Shrunken Man’ to recap on all the Paper 1 skills. In this week students continue to develop their descriptive writing skills focusing on effective openings and creating an extended metaphor. There are a number of photographs which can be used for extended writing for assessment purposes. A set of 10 booklets. In each Skills Booklet students interleave Language and Literature skills. Students revise a key scene and theme from An Inspector Calls whilst practising the skills required for Language Paper 1. Each booklet takes them through every question of the Language exam with key hints. A sample booklet exploring the opening scene is available as a free resource.

This is a single worksheet and accompanying PowerPoint to support students revising Act 2 of the play, Macbeth. There is a ‘Revise the Plot’ activity in which students have to delete two of the three alternatives given to find the correct plot; 10 ‘Who? What? Why? When? Where? How?’ questions to further develop understanding; 5 ‘Who says?’ questions and 7 questions about parallel lines in the play. All answers are provided on the PowerPoint which can be used as a lesson in itself; allowing the teacher go through each task and then the answers with the whole class.
