Speeches in Context
A selection of speeches, put into the context of their time period.
Includes Queen Elizabeth’s Tilbury Docks speech, Winston Churchill’s speech to Parliament, Emmeline Pankhurst’s Connecticut speech and Old Major’s speech in Animal Farm. An introduction to context is given for each speech and questions for each speech to be studied. There are also some on-line tasks that can be used for homeworks if you don’t have IT access, or ignored!
Suitable for teaching texts and their context at KS3 or a lower set yr10 to cover English Language revision of speeches and techniques used.
