A GCSE lesson looking at the structure of Elizabethan government in which students evaluate the power of different institutions. Students will reach a judgement on who was most powerful in Elizabethan England and will compare to parliament today.

A GCSE lesson on the benefits of voyages of discovery for Elizabethan England. Students will study the voyages of Drake and Raleigh in more depth and understand their contribution. They will reach a judgement on who was more significant for Elizabethan England. Links to a GCSE interpretations question on the motives of Drake for going on voyages of discovery.

The lesson is differentiated with different tasks for lower ability (orange), middle ability (blue) and higher ability (yellow) students, so is easily adaptable for either mixed ability or classes that are set.
