A years worth of English Homework - Year 8

A set of 45 homeworks incorporating spelling, grammar and comprehension. 3 word booklets of 15 homeworks each. Some sourced from the internet and some made from scratch. Marking slides for ease - each homework can be marked at the start or end of a lesson. The idea is that this takes the pressure off setting and marking homework and can be set alongside reading for pleasure.

Close language analysis each booklet = 8hrs of teaching 2 extracts - Propping up the line by Ian Beck and Half a man by Michael Morpurgo. Each booklet is a two hour session based on skills for AQA lanuage paper 1 - getting students to do more close analysis before answering questions. I have used remotely with success, but I have also put into one booklet to be printed at school. No PPT’s just work on the document on screen or online with the students. Alternatively, they could be split and turned into assessments. (N.B. Do Now activity answers could be taken out)

AQA - 19th-century literature at Key Stage 3 Adventure and Mystery

17 ready to teach lessons formulated from the AQA Teaching resources to help you develop the confidence of your Key Stage 3 students when reading 19th-century literature. You can download the full booklet for free (http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/resources/english/AQA-8702-19C-KS3.PDF) and it comes with teaching ideas, many of which I have utilised, so before purchasing you may want to look at it and design your own lessons. The Outcomes are geared towards year 8 students working towards the new grades 1-9 (Grade 2 - developing/ Grade 3 - good/ Grade 4 - Secure). I have tried to incorporate scaffolding for lower and a GandT slide at the end of each to print off. Please check notes fields as these are complete lessons with no extra lesson plan. This has taken many hours of putting together and tries to encapsulate the language and literature AO's with questions designed to prepare for paper 1 and paper 2 of language. It starts with creative writing and there is also a leaflet writing lesson. Most lessons say PA - peer assessed this is of your own discretion to decide when to teacher mark. Extracts from: • Moonfleet by J. Meade Faulkner (1898) • King Solomon’s Mines by H. Rider Haggard (1885) • The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1890) • Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson (1883) • Dr Watson’s description of Sherlock Holmes from A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1887) • The Call of the Wild by Jack London (1903) • Black Beauty by Anna Sewell (1877) • Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens (1837) • Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912) • David Livingstone (1813-1873) • Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe (1719)
