AQA Level 2 Further Maths - Matrices lesson 1
An introductory lesson to Matrices aimed at KS4 for the AQA Level 2 Further Maths qualification. This lesson includes; matrix notation, the order of a matrix, adding and subtracting matrices, multiplying by a scalar, and finally using basic expressions such as 2A-5B when given matrix A and B.
AQA Level 2 Further Maths - Matrices lesson 3
Perhaps my proudest lesson just for the amount of work that went into creating the main activity. This lesson focuses on transformations of matrices. The idea is for students to practice multiplying a given matrix by the correct transformation matrix. The resulting matrices form coordinates which if plotted (either on standard graph paper or as I do - on GIANT graph paper) draw a geometric diagram! A great team work activity to get the students around one big table working to achieve the same goal!
AQA Level 2 Further Maths - Matrices lesson 2
This lesson looks at multiplying matrices by first considering if the matrices can be multiplied by looking at the order.
Operations with positive and negative integers
A lesson using counters to help student understand addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with small positive and negative integers. Questions and answers on slides.
AQA Level 2 Further Maths - Differentiation lesson 1
An introduction to Differentiation. This lesson looks at the method to differentiate a function and how to find the gradient at a point on the curve.
Understanding the value of Fractions
A complete lesson about understanding the value of fractions using diagrams and equivalent fractions.
Understanding Addition
A PowerPoint covering various methods of addition designed to get students thinking! Includes a Frayer Model and Example Problem Pairs, activities for class discussion and questions and answers are on the slides so no printing required.
Understanding Subtraction
A PowerPoint lesson to help students to think about subtraction. Includes Frayer Model and Example Problem Pairs. Questions and answers are on slides.
Factorising Expressions worksheet
A worksheet for students to practice factorising expressions.
Increases in difficulty.
Can be teacher or student led or used as a full lesson.
