“5 Minute Reads” is to encourage more story time for learners.
Here’s how it works: Every day, teachers will dedicate 5 minutes during various lessons for reading. For example, PE teacher might read a chapter from an Athlete’s biography. After the reading session, learners will receive acknowledgment, like a sticker or stamp on their sheet. The goal is to fill their reading sheet during the week, earning them a special certificate.
If the child needs extra reading opportunities, we encouraged them to reach out to adults within the school community or engage in reading activities at home.
Using the Literacy shed’s Piano, children write a 5-paragraph story using a flashback.
Children will rewrite the flashback using the Victorian Era.
