I am a head of English who has been teaching for 9 years in middle school and Primary. For the last 5 years, I have also been a year 5 and year 3 class teacher. I have been a TES contributor for a while, with free and premium resources and I always upload resources that I have used successfully in my own teaching. I hope you might find them useful too!

This is a board game to support KS2 pupils to develop the structure of their sentences. As pupils role the die and move around the board, they must edit their sentences in different ways, according to the instructions on the square they have landed on. Changes include adding conjunctions, building complex sentences, experimenting with relative clauses and adding description with adverbial phrases and expanded noun phrases, Pupils can be independent players, or work together in pairs. The ppt includes an instruction card and a game board which can be enlarged and laminated.

LA = Orange, Purple/ Yellow = MA and Blue/ Green = HA

Primary English: Stage Planning for Writing

I have made these documents to support teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons. The bold statements on the left are end of year expectations for Composition and SPAG (specifically vocabulary, punctuation and grammar). I have then broken down each bold statement into focused learning challenges on the right, which can be used as small steps for pupils to build their skills and confidence as they work towards their end of year expectations. Every teacher does not have to use every target; they can choose those appropriate to their ability groups, or use all of them as small building blocks to build up understanding.

Primary English: End of Year Expectations for Writing

I have made these documents to support Primary teachers to plan focused, purposeful learning challenges for teaching and assessing Writing in their English lessons. They can be used long term plans as they show all of the end of year expectations for Composition, SPAG and handwriting that pupils need to work towards achieving during the year. The documents could also be used as target sheets for pupils to stick into their books in order to track their progress in writing. The columns on the right can be used by teachers to record 3 dates on which the objectives have been achieved. This bundle could be a perfect pack to support English departments to ensure consistent planning and progression of skills across the Primary phase.

KS2 English: Understanding character through discussion and role play

This powerpoint includes instructions and activities to develop pupil's understanding of character and talking, acting and writing in role. I have used them with Robin Hood and Alice in Wonderland (as well as the poem of The Highwayman), but they could be used with any narrative text you are studying. The powerpoint includes information about freeze frames, thought tracking and discussion activities and I have loved hearing the children's ideas - especially when they really get into their roles! I have found ideas are best once the children are really into the story and the activities have been brilliant to build up their ideas for writing first person accounts, diaries and narratives.

Key Stage 2 Maths: Addition and Subtraction

This Powerpoint includes task cards, word problems and homework activities to support children to understand the vocabulary of addition and subtraction and the written methods needed to solve addition and subtraction questions and problems. I used these resources with my LA/MA year 5 class, but they could be used or adapted for any KS2 Maths group. The word problems contain references to Harry Potter and Peter Pan (and internet images from the films), as we were studying those texts at the time and I wanted cross- curricular links, but they could be adapted for any topic you are studying.

Learning about Mexico: Introduction and dominoes game for KS2

I made and used this ppt as an introduction to our year 5 topic on Mexico and the Aztecs, but it could be used with any KS2 class. The first few slides were used to elicit children's ideas and questions, and the others are a domino game, for pupils to work together to learn facts about Mexico.

KS2/ KS3 Persuasion and advertising: group task to design and promote a new chocolate product

These slides are task cards to brief and instruct groups to design and market a new chocolate product for a fictional company: Thornbury's. Pupils will need to work together to create the packaging for their product, a promotional billboard advert and a persuasive press release. They also need to plan a professional presentation of their ideas. I gave groups a week to prepare and their results were fantastic! They were fully engaged and their presentations were very impressive: some groups arrived with leaflets and stickers to give out, boxes for their products (exhibiting their Maths skills) and even samples to taste! I used this with year 7 pupils, but it would be fantastic revision of non- fiction text types for year 5 and 6 too!

This WWII- related unit is based around a scenario in which a V.C medal has been stolen from the Imperial War Museum. Pupils become detectives in order to investigate the case (studying suspect photos, analysing evidence pictures and interviewing staff in role) and write newspaper articles about their suspicions.

This unit of work and PowerPoint of resources were used during our topic of 'Living Together'. After taking on the role of explorers and learning about different animals (as well as practising their use of simple, compound and complex sentences), pupils will write two non- chronological reports: the first is about the dangerous species of teachers, who prey on poor, defenceless pupils and the second (the main written outcome of the unit) is about the species of year 5 pupils.

They focus on sentence structure, punctuation and reading skills, and the poster slides were on display in every classroom. I hope others might find them useful. Christianne:)

This Powerpoint includes resources to introduce pupils to different types of angles, supporting them to name , sort and measure them. The task sheets can be reduced to A5 or printed two to a page so that pupils can stick them in for clear instructions. I used these resources with my MA/ LA Year 5 class, but they could be used or adapted for any Key Stage 2 Maths group.

During our Commonwealth topic this term, the children have been finding out about different continents by sorting and ordering these domino cards, before using them to collect research about commonwealth countries within the continents. The ppt contains slides for Oceania, Europe and Africa so far, but I will add sets for the other continents as we study them!
