Are you looking for a fun way to motivate and help children learn new vocabulary regardless of your musical background? The Sing2Write project was inspired by a love of music and language and how the two together can support young children to embed key vocabulary as an integral part of the English curriculum. This supports non specialist music teachers and children from 3-7 years. Singing is one of the fundamental ways to inspire, motivate, and enthuse young children when learning new vocabulary. The songs and activities are inspired by a rich variety of texts within the school curriculum, with the goal to motivate all teachers and children, regardless of their musical knowledge, to sing along to the simple songs. The songs are designed to be easy to learn and help develop confidence and knowledge of new vocabulary. Watch on Classberry youtube channel.

NOTES FOR TEACHERS
8 stages of writing progress that tracks written skills in fiction, including phonics, vocabulary, grammar, composition, handwriting and punctuation. It can be used to track progress for children learning English as a foreign language or with some small adjustments for all pupils in KS1. A bank of skills which can also be used as targets for the next steps in their learning. Written after the end of National Curriculum levels to form part of our new progress and assessment in school.
We decided to focus on tracking fiction as non-fiction wasn’t able to reflect the range of skills we felt we needed to track.
If you would like the second part of this progression tracker you can find the KS2 development over on TES shop ClassGems.

Children will enjoy learning about the character Little Seed, a persistent but impatient seed who wants to see the big things in life. He decides he can no longer wait and sets off on an adventure. Along the way he meets some helpful friends who teach him about the places they love to be.
A printable original story and presentation to share in class. The story would be a lovely introduction to a new topic on types of trees and link perfectly within a topic on plants and growth. Also great to be used in an assembly to either share or perform and could be turned into a play by including the songs.
**Please note this is a print your own digital version with educational activity.
To purchase your own copy of the book it is available on amazon.
The story explores ideas of self discovery and belonging.

I never get bored of telling this story to children, I just love the way they enjoy the naughty seagulls stealing his lunch. It's also one of my favourite displays to create with blues of the sea and contrast of the Lighthouse. There's so many literacy opportunities- speech bubbles, instructional writing, descriptive writing, the list goes on... The video was created for our Spanish students to give them an opportunity to listen to English over the summer holidays, however it can also be used as a starter for your class to create their own 'surprise' sandwich...
My favourite food worksheet included.
This learning chart is to help the pupils identify whether they are learning a new fact, skill or developing their understanding at the start of a new topic/lesson. It can be edited and added to as the topic progresses.
Actions could be given to help children remember the learning , such as thumbs up for knowledge, building block hands for skills and tapping the head for understanding.
The chart is to be used during the teacher input and enlarged to be displayed throughout the topic. Objectives from the topic can be added and used as a reference for assessment.
Included
A power point blank grid to edit
An example from the circus topic
Objectives: KS1 Maths, Year 2 and adapted for Year 1.
Add numbers using concrete objects and pictorial representations, e.g. number squares, to add 1- and 2-digit numbers.
Add/subtract mentally two 2-digit numbers by counting on in 10s and 1s.
Recognise and use symbols for pence (p) and use coins to solve simple problems
involving addition and subtraction.
Targets:
I can add and subtract 10’s and 1p coins. I can find totals using coins up to 100.
Year 1
Adding 1 more/1 less
Finding totals up to 20.
Notes for teachers
Children can complete the challenge individually or in pairs. Timing the activity helps keep the children focused, keep the totals a secret until the ‘big reveal’ to add competition. Ideally it would be good if the children use real 10p and 1p coins.
Included:
Prerequisite activity, adding tens only grid.
Blank grid maze with coloured paths to laminate and you can add your own numbers depending on your Year group.
Purse print out.
One of the many activities which forms part of the Sing2Write resource pack this is a free worksheet with original artwork borders and illustration. Full colour PDF or print in black and white.
