The Ancient Rome NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in Year 5 or Year 6. The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Then, there are three biography writing units about Charlemagne, Joan of Arc and William the Conqueror. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Also, there is an opinion writing unit about who was the most influential figure from the Middle Ages: Charlemagne, Joan of Arc or William the Conqueror. This unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Finally, there is a Middle Ages Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and people of the period. There are 36 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the end of the Western Roman Empire until the first voyages to the Americas.

A Valentine’s Day Escape Room activity. Ideal for Year 5 or Year 6, the activity is perfect for group work; a great holiday activity; team-building activities; or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. In Task 1 students will read an informational text about the celebration of Valentine’s Day and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.
In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.
In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards about important holidays or festivals celebrated in the United States and around the world. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.
In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.
Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.

The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about the three famous figures, and writing these on to a fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual people. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on a neat copy using the template provided.
