This is a bundle of three Year 3 or Year 4 reading comprehension activities, or informational text activities, about three key figures of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States - Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks & Ruby Bridges. Perfect for Black History Month.
The informational texts look into the activists’ lives, careers and achievements, and conclude with comprehension and grammar questions. They also contain extension activities for fast-finishing students. They are aimed at students between the ages of 9-13.
Each resource is ideal for a homework activity, a reading group activity, guided reading, exam/test preparation etc.

Time allowance ( one hour)
5 minutes - read through the text individually.

The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin and Franklin Roosevelt, and writing these on to a fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual World War 2 leaders. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on a neat copy using the template provided.

Two great activities that would span 5 lessons on former US President and founding father, Thomas Jefferson. Perfect for students in Year 5 or Year 6 learning about famous presidents and U.S. History.
NO PREP is needed!
Firstly, there is a reading comprehension activity - children need to read through an informational text, and then answer comprehension and grammar questions, before completing an extension activity.
Secondly, there is a biography writing unit. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. Ideal for students learning about influential US Presidents or the birth of the United States.
Good luck, I hope you get some great results!
We specialize in play scripts, we have a William Shakespeare collection with Richard III, Macbeth and Hamlet. We also have a good selection of Christmas play scripts including Elf, The Santa Clause and A Christmas Carol.

In the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work into a neat copy on the template provided.
