A short double-sided information sheet about William Morris and his work as a designer, painter and writer. Primarily for use in class with KS3 students to encourage independent reading, research and artwork. But could be used at KS4. “William Morris is best known as the 19th century’s most celebrated designer, but he was also a driven polymath (someone with a wide knowledge or learning). He was a key figure in the Arts & Crafts Movement and championed a principle of handmade production rather than the Victorian focus on industrial-made products. He is famous for his wallpaper, textiles, carpets, embroideries, tapestries, ceramic tiles and book designs.” This can be printed on A4 paper, double-sided, for classwork or attached to homework to ensure all students can access the key information. The worksheet contains focus questions and also additional focus information linking to Pre-Raphalite art movement.
