Saturday 23rd October is Mole Day - a day to celebrate the chemistry mole and in particular to commemorate the work of Avogadro. The day is celebrated between 6.02 am to 6.02 pm on 10/23 (the date written in the American style) which you will recognise as Avogadro’s constant. In the run-up to Mole Day, I have written a daily mole challenge which you could give to your GCSE students.

On the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas, 12 starter activities covering different parts of GCSE Chemistry with answers. The aim is that the questions could be a helpful activity to have on the board at the start of the lesson, which students can complete while you take the register for example. The questions and answers have been put into one PowerPoint in order to easily project on the whiteboard.
