BTEC level 3 Applied science Unit 8 C digestive system

(2)
Set of lessons that have covered the unit 8 digestive system assignment C. This was taught over double lessons (2hrs) with access to IT for lesson 2 so might need splitting up if you teach in single lessons. Lesson 1: Digestive system function and parts Lesson 2: Enzymes and what they break down Lesson 3: Absorption of nutrients and methods of absorption Lesson 4: Nutrient uses and deficiencies Lesson 5 (only 1 hour): Diseases that affect the digestive system and lead to deficiencies Lesson 6: Food tests Also included: Help sheet given to students with bullet pointed structure for assignment completion.

3D, 2D, ball and stick, chemical models comparison

A complete lesson that includes a card sort or cut and stick activity for students to compare advantages and disadvantages of the different 2D and 3D models of chemical structures. eleanorvickers has a worksheet that can be used in the lesson, however I have changed the 3D model to the models in the AQA specification so new version included.

Adaptation - Adaptations of animals and plants. Student led lesson

(3)
A lesson I created for year 7’s but can be used throughout GCSE. The list of adaptations needs to be printed and cut out. There are two levels of demand for the list of adaptations - I printed these on 2 different colours of paper (pink and blue). The adaptations need to be placed around the room and students need to match them up to the polar bear, cactus, or camel.

Reaction profile/energy level diagrams

Can be used for KS3 or KS4 - really helped students understand moving the reactants and products on the axis. The cardsort needs to be cut out (I laminated a set of 15 that can be used again and again).

Virtual tutor board and activity powerpoint for use during tutor time

(0)
A document to try and ease the issues with moving rooms with tutor groups or not having a tutor base to create a tutor board in due to COVID-19. The first page has links to each page in the document and can be edited for your own school (for example my school uses “RTP” for the weekly equipment check but your school may use another term). Each page has a link back to the main page so that more than one activity can be done in one tutor time. More pages can be added depending on school needs.

AQA Chemistry (Trilogy and triple) Specification sheets

(0)
Sheets for GCSE Chemistry that have the specification in the order that we teach them. Orders from the original specification has been changed for easy of teaching and learning including moving some parts of the specification around, splitting up units and interleaving with other subjects such as physics.
Balancing equations scaffolded worksheet differentiated

Balancing equations scaffolded worksheet differentiated

(1)
A resource that can be used from KS3 to KS4 to help with balancing equations. Scaffolded so that students work from low to high demand. Students often struggle with using symbols however find balancing legos/skittles/beads easy. A worksheet that steps up the demand from low to medium then to high. Can be used for all exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, iGCSE) as is common content and would suit combined or separate sciences.
