This resource focuses on exploring the meaning of words in context in Chapter 1 of Goodnight Mr Tom and is aimed at years 5 and 6. These differentiated resources have 3 levels of challenge plus a SEN-suitable version. C1 is the easier version, with C3 being the most challenging. Children are provided with words from the book (with page numbers) and the sentence that they are in (except for C3) and they are required to suggest the meaning of the word, using the context of the sentence to help them.

This year 5&6 differentiated reading comprehension containing a mix of retrieval and inference questions is based on pages 32-33 of chapter 2 of Goodnight Mr Tom. This resource is aimed at years 5 or 6 and includes questions that involve children finding and retrieving information from the text and making inferences from pages 32-33 of chapter 2 (please note that page numbers may be different in some copies). This includes differentiated questions from C1-C3, with C1 being the easier questions and C3 the harder. It also includes questions aimed at children with SEN. The answers are also included too!
