A Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 BUNDLE of French reading comprehension worksheets and fun puzzle worksheets, with differentiation, for revision of beginner French vocabulary and phrases. Great for independent work, back to school, start of term, end of the year, early finisher tasks etc. All resources in PDF format. My French basics resources are made for students beginning French and near beginners in Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and equivalents, depending on experience and ability. Please check the previews to assess suitability. This BUNDLE of 68 pages includes these 2 individual resource packs, which can be bought separately if you prefer: French Reading Comprehension Worksheets Features 8 short texts, with vocabulary and phrases from these topics: Greetings and Introductions, Family and Pets, Sports and Hobbies and Describing People (Physical Appearance and Character Traits) All 8 worksheets are included at 2 levels The one-star versions contain the same text but are for less experienced or lower ability learners and contain multiple-choice questions The two-star versions feature more challenging questions Answer keys for all 16 are included Teacher instruction page at the end of the file Text is in French and the questions are in English Students could look up any words they don’t know There are 3 PDF files in the Zip file, one with UK English spelling versions, one with US spelling, and a Canadian version. The Canadian version also has the word ‘marron’ to describe brown eyes replaced with ‘bruns’ in worksheet 7, the only place where this is relevant. Many other French speakers use ‘marron’, which is used on the version of worksheet 7 in the other files.   French Vocabulary Revision Worksheets 8 fun grid puzzles worksheets featuring vocabulary from topics such as Body Parts, Calendar, Clothing, Colours, Describing People, Family, Food and Drink, Greetings and Introductions, Numbers, Pets, School and Classroom Vocabulary, Sport and Hobbies, and Weather 3 versions of each puzzle so you can choose, depending on age, experience and ability 1-star versions have some of the letters added to the grid to support students 2-star versions just have the first letter of each word 3-star versions (hardest) feature entirely blank grids Students translate numbered English words and enter into the grid. The letters in the shaded boxes, reading from top to bottom, form a French sentence. Students roll dice, then choose a clothing word from that number column and say it in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe pen to mark that box (opponents could use a different colour). BATTLESHIPS-STYLE GRID GAME: 6 sets of 2 identical cards. Laminate and use dry-wipe pens. Players take the same number card as their opponent, place a cross in 4 boxes to choose clothing and colour, and ask questions to discover the location of their opponent’s crosses. (As-tu une robe rouge? etc.). The first to correctly guess all 4 wins. ‘I HAVE…WHO HAS?’ GAME: Features 36 key words. 2 versions (one with an image on both sides to support lower ability or less experienced students). Print and laminate the cards, which form a continuous loop. JIGSAW PUZZLE: Laminate for repeated use. Students match French clothing words with correct images. VOCAB SUPPORT: 3 pages to support students playing the games, if required. For KS2 and KS3, this is a pack of 3 fun printable activities, consolidating vocabulary from both French Classroom Objects (Les Objets de la Classe) and School (Mon Ecole / À l’école) topics. Lessons for these units can be taught and consolidated with my presentations, worksheets and puzzles, games and more – all available in my French Classroom and School Vocabulary BIG BUNDLE, which contains this pack of games, alongside 6 other packs. However, for a small review of these units, you may only want these games. All are in PDF within a Zip file. My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 (and equivalents in other countries) but might suit others, depending on experience. Play like traditional snakes and ladders but students translate vocabulary to stay on the spot where they landed. Answer key provided. SCHOOL PLAN DRAWING GAME A flexible speaking game for pairs, groups, or whole class. Students listen to sentences describing the location of school items and draw quick sketches on their blank plan in the correct locations. Blank plans could be printed on paper for one-off use but perhaps use card and laminate if being used again (students draw with dry-wipe pens). Completed plans and sentences are provided for 4 rounds. You could set up mixed ability groups, with several students completing 1 plan. French job names are given for masculine and feminine versions where applicable. There’s also a table of key questions and sentences. These pages can also be used as prompts for classroom speaking activities. Please note that these vocabulary pages are also contained in my Les Métiers Games and Activities pack. 7 worksheets, all differentiated two ways using a star system. The one-star version is the least challenging, for lower ability, younger or less experienced students. Includes jumbled words, translation tasks, fill the blanks tasks and a short reading comprehension. 3 puzzles - There’s a grid puzzle, word hunt puzzle and hidden word puzzle. The first two puzzles are differentiated, with the first letter given for each word in the word hunt puzzle and some letters already entered into the easier grid puzzle. KS2 / KS3 Beginners Pets in French PowerPoint PPT Lesson Presentation (also in PDF format) and printable flashcards for your Les Animaux de Compagnie (Les Animaux Domestiques) unit. This 40 slide presentation (and more slides for games) introduces and reviews key vocabulary and phrases for Pets in French and includes activities and tasks. My French basics resources suit students beginning French and near beginners in Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 and equivalents. Many slides feature answers that appear when you click, for students to respond. There are also some very short reading comprehensions and an additional 20+ slides at the end of the presentation (making it 65 slides in total) form a ‘Splat’ game and a memory game (Kim’s game), which could be played in teams, with students working out which images are missing each time and giving the word in French. In the Zip file, along with a PowerPoint version, there is an additional PDF version of the presentation. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will still help you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint where you work. Included with and without background colour. FOUR IN A ROW 2 different game boards. Print and laminate. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Students roll dice, then choose a pets word from that number column and say it in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe marker to put a symbol or initial in that box. ‘I HAVE…WHO HAS?’ This loop game reviews phrases alongside some numbers. Print and laminate the 30 illustrated cards, which form a continuous loop. AS-TU UN ANIMAL? There are 36 game cards (18 identical pairs). Students are given a card each and must move around the room, trying to find the player with the matching card. To find this, one player asks “As-tu un animal?”. The other replies with the information on their card (e.g. “J’ai un chien et un lapin” / “J’ai deux lézards” etc) and vice versa. There are 2 versions. The first set includes French prompts for lower ability or younger students. The other is in English only. BINGO / NOUGHTS AND CROSSES 8 different cards for a group game of Bingo (teacher or student could read out words) or Tic Tac Toe / Noughts and Crosses, with students taking it in turns to say aloud a French pets word from their card. For KS2 or KS3, this is a French FSL PowerPoint lesson presentation (also in PDF format) and flash cards for a Les Moyens de Transport or Les Véhicules en Français (Means of Transport / Vehicles in French) vocabulary unit. There are 120+ slides to introduce and practice key vocabulary and phrases, and there are activities and fun interactive games. My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 (and equivalents in other countries) but might suit others, depending on experience. Please see the samples in the previews to check if this will be suitable. Within the Zip file is the original Powerpoint version, plus an additional PDF version and a PDF file of flash cards. Due to a small number of differences between UK and US (‘lorry’ is changed to ‘truck’ and ‘van’ is replaced by the very common ‘pick-up truck’ etc), there are additional US versions of all resources also in the Zip file. The word ‘transportation’ replaces ‘transport’ in the US versions too. Includes a core range of 18 transport types: plane, bicycle, boat, bus, car, campervan, by foot, helicopter, horseback, hot air balloon, lorry, motorbike, ship, submarine, taxi, tractor, train and van.
