Describing People Character Traits Games

(1)
For KS2 and KS3, here are 5 printable games and speaking activities for lessons in your Personalities Descriptions / Les Traits de Caractere (de Personnalite) unit. These fun group games and whole class activities practise how to describe personality (using 20 adjectives that are included on a word mat for support), and also cover key questions and adjectival agreement (male and female). My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 for initial teaching or revision but might suit others, depending on experience. Due to a small number of UK / US spelling differences (organised / organized etc), there are 2 versions of the PDF file within the Zip file. The previews show the UK versions. SAVE by purchasing this as part of my Describing People (Character) BUNDLE, which also contains: French Character Traits Presentation French Character Traits in French Worksheets and Puzzles If also teaching Describing Appearance (hair, eyes etc) you might like this French Physical Descriptions BUNDLE Also, this Describing People (Physical and Character) BUNDLE contains the above bundles plus a 7th pack that combines both topics (French Physical and Character Descriptions Translation Cards and Comprehension)   IN THIS 25-PAGE PDF: Vocabulary support: word mat and table of adjectival agreement. These 2 pages are also included in related resource packs. Four in a Row: 2 boards. Print and laminate. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Students use dry-wipe pens. Board Game: Practice of 1st and 3rd person sentences using the adjectives. Print and laminate. Answer key included for student checking. Loop Game: Instead of ‘I Have…Who Has?’, this is a ‘Je suis…Qui est…?’ game. Distribute among players. First player reads aloud the right side of their card, stating the word under the picture in English. Others check if they have the matching French word, and so on. Grid Game: 6 sets of 2 identical cards. Best if laminated, with students using dry-wipe pens. Play in a similar way to traditional Battleships. Bingo / Noughts and Crosses: 16 cards for a group game of Bingo in pairs or Noughts and Crosses / Tic Tac Toe (with students taking it in turns to say aloud a word in French from their card). If cards are laminated, students could use a dry-wipe pen. Teacher Notes / Instructions

Fun fast finisher activities and starter tasks! Designed for Upper KS2 Year 5 and Year 6 (Y5 and Y6), this is a BUNDLE of printable, well-differentiated Four in a Row Game Boards for starters, warm ups and early finisher activities in Maths / Numeracy lessons. Great for revision or consolidation of new concepts. Includes games for Area, Money, Doubles and Halves, Times Tables and Decimal Numbers (Place Value). In Scotland, suits Second Level Maths - Primary 6 and 7. Expand your bank of Key Stage 2 games with this great value BUNDLE of easy-to-prepare, fun and strategic 4-in-a-rows. Most just require printing and laminating. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 would be okay too. You might need to quickly adjust printer settings with some of the files. Laminate games to use again and again, with children writing on the boards with a dry-wipe marker / whiteboard pen. INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer in a box. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The games work especially well if students roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again. You can find previews and more information about each resource that is included in this bundle if you click on them but here are some details: CHANGE FOR £20 2 standard game boards and 2 lower ability boards. Children roll dice to find out which column they can do a calculation in and then must work out the change required for £20 for one of the items pictured and priced in that column. Children write on the change using different colour whiteboard pens or add their initials. All answers included. DOUBLES AND HALVES 10 boards to consolidate doubling and halving of two and three digit numbers. Includes a one-star version of both the doubling and halving game for younger or lower ability pupils - sidebars are included, featuring all answers, which children can strike through when used. It’s also included without the answer sidebars in case your pupils don’t need this added support. This version focuses on lower 2-digit numbers and multiples of 10. Then there’s four different, more challenging versions of both the doubling and halving boards (two and three-star versions). All answers included. Play as the money game above. AREA 3 differentiated boards: One-star version - area of rectangles, squares and right-angled triangles. No conversion required. Two-star version – as above but with more challenging calculations. Some conversion required between centimetres, metres etc. Includes decimal lengths and breadths. Three-star version - area of rectangles, squares, right-angled triangles and compound shapes. Some conversion required. Includes decimal lengths and breadths and more challenging calculations. Some of the compound shapes require children to work out the length of a side, using other given sides, before they can work out the area. Children will be able to do some of the calculations mentally but could use paper or mini whiteboards to work out the more challenging ones before writing in the answer on the grid. TIMES TABLES 4 Times Table Boards in colour and black and white versions. All 4 available in LA supported versions (with answer sideboards), standard version (2-9 times tables) and in a version with 11 and 12 times tables added. Use whiteboard pens as in the games above. DECIMAL PLACE VALUE Consolidate place value to 2 or 3 decimal places. 2 differentiated boards: The 1 star board was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. For use with this game are two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places). I hope these resources save you time and help your students learn in a fun way. Thank you so much if you are able to spare the time to review them on TES. Fun puzzles worksheets for Key Stage 2 (Year 4 and especially Year 5 and Year 6), ideal for independent work, early finishers activities, starters, challenge / extension tasks or homework. This BUNDLE contains 16 fun Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes puzzles worksheets for multiplying and dividing in PDF format and full answer keys. Please check the previews to assess suitability. Fast finishers love being challenged by these challenges, plus they make great collaborative starters too! Why not laminate and use again and again, with students using whiteboard pens? Alternatively, you could place them inside dry-erase sleeves. These puzzles worksheets are great to have on hand throughout the year. The 2 resource packs in this BUNDLE are also available separately: Multiplication Puzzle Worksheets Division Puzzle Worksheets Times Tables 2-10 Times Tables 2-12 Doubles to 50 Doubles to 100 / 2-Digit Doubling Doubling 3-Digit Numbers Multiplying by 10 and 100 Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000 (including decimals) Multiplying by Multiples of 10 and 100 (including decimals) Division with Table Facts 2-9 Division with Table Facts 2-12 Halving Numbers to 100 Halving 2 and 3 Digit Numbers Halving 3 Digit Numbers Dividing by 10 and 100 Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 Dividing by Multiples of 10 and 100 An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, they can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal a maths word. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and revision and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes across Key Stage 2 and early KS3. Hopefully they’ll be helpful for your teaching over many years. First player reads aloud the ‘Qui a…?’ (‘Who has?’) side, stating the word under the picture in English. The others check if they have the matching French. Homophones Spelling Games Activities BUNDLE

2 Resources
10 KS2 Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6 spelling games to make learning about homophones and near homophones fun. This could be used as a home learning activity, with a child aiming to reach a target of correct answers in a given time. These ‘splat’ SPaG activities include the following words that are often muddled up and misspelled: there / their / they’re (64 sentences included) it’s / its (64 sentences included) where / were / we’re / wear (64 sentences) whether / weather (32 sentences) knew / new (32 sentences) your / you’re (64 sentences) here / hear (64 sentences) to / two / too (64 sentences) threw / through (32 sentences) no / know (32 sentences) CONTENTS: 2 PDF documents (37 pages in total) 2 PowerPoint (10 slides in total) This bundle is comprised of 2 homophone splat game packs that are also available separately: Homophones Games 1 Homophones Games 2 The games revolve around a total of 512 sentences which model a variety of structures so that while children are learning about the spelling of commonly confused words they are also learning about how to use a range of openers, connectives, sub-clauses etc to construct interesting sentences. Many sentences are silly to further engage children! It’s a challenge to make SPaG work active and engaging, rather than relying solely on worksheets and these homophones splat games are ideal for fun consolidation during the main part of SPaG lessons or can be used as purposeful early finisher and/or starter activities. If you print and laminate them all, children could self-select the homophones they need to practise. It is best played in small groups, where children each take a sentence card which features 8 sentences with a homophone word in it (homophone words are printed in bold). Children take it in turns to read a sentence from their card while the others compete to splat the correct homophone flashcard (homophone flashcards are included in black and white as well as fun colour ‘explosion’ style cards so you can choose which to print). The first student to hit the correct homophone word scores a point. Students could lose a point for hitting the wrong word to stop them being tempted to guess early. The PowerPoint includes a slide for each game and features the homophone words for splatting as a whole class version on a ‘splattable’ whiteboard, should you so wish. 3 people could compete together each round, perhaps representing 3 teams. Factors and Multiples Y5 Y6

(2)
Fun Upper Primary Maths games and activities for Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 and 6 - or Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland. Factors and Multiples starters, warm ups, early finishers tasks, revision etc. A differentiated set of over 70 cards to be used for self-checking factors work or for fun games, plus 6 game boards and 36 cards for multiples bingo / lotto. FACTORS: Lower ability file features numbers up to 100. Higher ability file includes many more challenging numbers, up to 16,000. The cards are designed to be printed double-sided with the answers (all factors of the number) on the back. Once you have printed the front side, pop your paper or card back in the printer and print the answers. This works especially well as an early finisher activity. Pupil Instruction Card is included for ‘Factors Frenzy’ game, where children compete to find as many factors of a number as they can. It could get quite competitive! MULTIPLES: 6 bingo boards, each featuring 6 numbers between 2 and 12. Print and laminate these as well as the 36 number cards (which each feature four numbers). When picking up a card, players must decide if the four numbers on their card are ALL multiples of a single number on their board. If so, they can place it over that number. If not, they put it back. There’s tactical thinking in this game as some children will realise that all multiples of i.e. 12 are also multiples of 6, 4, 3, 2 - so they will need to prioritise covering the numbers for which there are fewer cards. A couple of cards will not be able to be placed on anyone’s board as there is no common multiple. As usual, the first to cover all numbers is the winner. A Pupil Instruction Card is included for this game too. It comes in both colour and black and white. These are available for a saving in a bundle (see below). I hope your pupils enjoy using them and that they save you time. 6 Resources
Great for starters and early finishers, this Mental Maths / Arithmetic Upper Key Stage 2 Big Bundle contains 3 resource packs (Year 5 / 6) and 3 Lower KS2 resource packs (Year 4 / 3), great for differentiation in the same class. A total of 30 PowerPoint Speed Tests, 432 Self-Check Cards and 16 Cross Number Puzzles for regular practice throughout the year. The Lower Key Stage 2 resources were originally designed for Y4 (Primary 5 and other equivalents) but would also suit some Y3 (Primary 4) classes too once the concepts have been covered. They could also be used for lower ability students in Upper KS2. The Upper Key Stage 2 resources were originally designed for Y5 and Y6 (Primary 6 and 7 and other equivalents). They could be used as part of SATs preparation. They would also suit some early KS3 classes for consolidation and revision. Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Doubling & Halving, Fractions, Percentages, Decimals, Negative Numbers, Place Value, Money, Measure, Time and Angles. As the PowerPoints and Self-Check cards include money questions in UK currency, I have also included versions for countries that use dollars and cents. Differentiation: I have called the Lower KS2 resources Set B, while the Upper is Set A, rather than using any other identifier to help facilitate the use of both sets within the same class without the children being aware of the age level of the questions. All these Mental Numeracy resources are available individually or in smaller Lower KS2 and Upper KS2 bundles: Mental Maths Bundle Year 5 Year 6 Mental Maths Bundle Year 4 / Year 3 The information below applies to both the Lower and Upper KS2 resources, so there’s double what it says: POWERPOINT SPEED TESTS 15 informal tests split across 3 PowerPoints, designed to be shown on the whiteboard with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. One question to a slide will allow children to focus for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered so as to minimise distractions. Run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer or click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging questions. Each test features 20 questions involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge. At the end of each test, the same 20 slides are repeated, this time with the answer added clearly. Children can then mark their own or a partner’s work to reduce your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but the idea of each answer appearing with its question like this is that it allows for important discussions about strategies. SELF-CHECK CARDS A flexible resource that can be incorporated into many mental maths games and activities within the classroom, especially oral starters. Laminate and use again and again as starter and early finisher tasks. There are twelve calculations on each A4 sheet. Leave them as 18 A4 sheets or cut each of the question cards separately to create 216 cards. There are versions both with and without the answers printed below the questions. The with-answers versions could be used by pupils questioning each other while the version without the answers could be used by individuals testing themselves. A separate answer card is included, which individuals could consult. CROSSNUMBER PUZZLES A fun resource for early finisher tasks, mental starters, homework etc. They could be completed by individuals or in pairs or small groups, where they will promote important discussions about different mental strategies. As in a crossword puzzle, children will find it easier to work out some of the more challenging questions once they have filled in the easier ones as some digits will already be there for them. ANSWER GRIDS for all 8 puzzles are included within the file and could be printed for pupils to self-check (or displayed later on the board), cutting down on your marking! I hope these save you time and provide great practice to help boost your students’ mental maths agility. I would be grateful for a review if you get a spare moment. Many thanks. German Greetings and Introductions Games

(0)
German Greetings and Introductions unit printable games for speaking and reading practice: loop games, a jigsaw puzzle, and an active card game to review basic greetings (Die Begrüßungen auf Deutsch), goodbyes and introducing yourself in German. These activities review vocabulary such as Guten Tag (Hello), Guten Abend (Good evening), Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye) and Bis später (See you later). Students will also practise asking and answering questions such as Wie geht’s? (How are you?), Wie heißt du? (What’s your name?), Wie alt bist du? (How old are you?), and Wo wohnst du? (Where do you live?). The games are in PDF format. My German basics resources are made for students beginning German and near beginners in KS2 or early KS3 (Years 5, 6 and 7) and equivalents but may suit others, depending on experience. SAVE by purchasing this as part of my German Greetings and Introductions BUNDLE, along with these further 4 resource packs: German Greetings and Introductions Presentation and Activities German Greetings Worksheets German Greetings Board Game German Greetings Role-Play Cards LOOP GAMES / “I HAVE…WHO HAS…?” The six 10-card loop games are coloured differently. If printing in black and white use different coloured card to help keep them separate. Designed for oral practice in small groups, with a student reading out the English word or phrase on their card and others checking if they have the German translation, then reading this out - and so on until the loop is completed. JIGSAW PUZZLE A 16-piece triangle puzzle. Print, laminate, and cut. Students must arrange the puzzle pieces so that English vocabulary is placed beside the matching German translations on other pieces, forming a large triangle. ACTIVE CARD GAME A fun game to get students moving around the classroom, speaking German to each other. 18 identical pairs of cards form a complete 36-card set. Print and laminate the cards. Students circulate, asking and answering questions in German about name, age, and where they live, in whatever order they wish. Students’ responses should be based on the information on their card. Without looking at each other’s card, students try to find the player whose card matches their own. To make the small number of locations printed on the cards more relevant to students, I have included 3 versions: Canada / US, UK, Australia / NZ. All versions include some German locations. VOCABULARY SUPPORT CARD Use this to support certain students, groups or classes to play the games.

Rounding Games

(0)
Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths games for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. Fun, challenging and strategic, these 17 estimation and rounding games will make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments! 23 pages, PDF format. Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.   Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any box on any row, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty!   If you don’t have a 0-9 dice: Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file) Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)   Instructions are printed on the boards.   Thank you very much for supporting my store.   YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE… Maths Puzzles Worksheets HUGE BUNDLE Place Value CrossNumber Puzzles Area and Perimeter Activities BUNDLE   Explore more at FullShelf Resources

French Halloween Games

KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Halloween vocabulary (L’Halloween) speaking games and activities. Enjoy teaching spooky words this October with these fun printables, originally made for Year 4, 5, 6 and 7) for beginners or near beginners. May suit other ages depending on experience. Resources are included in colour, with alternative greyscale versions in a second file. Included: Vocabulary slide 4 x Four in a Row boards 2 x ‘I Have…Who Has?’ / Loop Games 30 x Bingo Boards SAVE by purchasing this as part of my French Halloween BUNDLE, alongside my French Halloween Presentation and Flashcards pack and my French Halloween Worksheets and Puzzles. FRENCH HALLOWEEN VOCABULARY Use this page to support students playing the games, if required. You can display it on a screen or print it. FOUR IN A ROW GAMES 4 different game boards. Print in colour or b&w and laminate as required. Works well in A3 for larger groups but A4 is good too. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Students roll dice, then choose a Halloween word from that number column and say it in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe marker to put a symbol or initial in that box, and so on. ‘I HAVE…WHO HAS?’ GAME 1 This game practises some of the key Halloween vocabulary in phrases alongside some numbers. Print and laminate the 30 illustrated cards, which form a continuous loop so you can start with any one. Distribute amongst players. First player reads the English language side of one of their cards and then all players check if they have the matching number of the correct item. If they do, they will read out both sides of their card. Students use ‘Qui a…?’ (‘Who has…?’) to ask the question each time. Instead of the usual ‘J’ai…’ (‘I have…’) for the other side of the cards, students could use the expression ‘Il y a…’ (‘There is… / there are…’). ‘I HAVE…WHO HAS?’ GAME 2 A 20-card word-only game, similar to the one above. It uses a wider pool of vocabulary but without the numbers. BINGO / TIC TAC TOE CARDS Use these 30 different cards for games of Bingo (the teacher could read out French Halloween words) or Tic Tac Toe / Noughts and Crosses, with students taking it in turns to say aloud a French Halloween word from their card. If cards are laminated, students could write on them with a dry-wipe marker. You might be interested in this Huge French Basics Bundle Thank you. French Halloween Vocabulary

Beginners French KS2 / KS3 Halloween Vocabulary (L’Halloween) 80-slide PowerPoint lesson presentation and set of 23 flashcards. Featuring key words and phrases, plus games / activities for further practice, the presentation was made for beginners / near beginners in Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 and equivalents. There’s an additional PDF version, and a PDF containing the flashcards (2 to a page). Please check the previews to assess suitability. SAVE by purchasing this alongside my French Halloween Games and French Halloween Worksheets and Puzzles, in a good value FRENCH HALLOWEEN BUNDLE. POWERPOINT Includes cultural information about the fact that Halloween is not particularly celebrated in France and that French people are more likely to celebrate ‘La Toussaint’ on November 1st. Of course, French-speaking people elsewhere do celebrate Halloween so it’s a good chance to learn some fun vocabulary. The next few slides introduce more than 20 key words, one at a time, such as spider, black cat, broom, sweets, cemetery, bat, pumpkin, scarecrow, ghost, owl, moon, haunted house, monster, skeleton, witch, cauldron etc (in French of course). Following this, slides review these words, showing an image for students to give the word, with the answer appearing on the click of a mouse. Halloween-related French phrases are also taught, such as ‘I’m wearing a witch costume’ and ‘I’m scared’ and there are also slides teaching how to say ‘There are three black cats’ and ‘There are four spiders’ etc. There’s a slide with almost all key images on the screen for students to ‘splat’ with a fly swatter or equivalent (if displayed on a whiteboard) when the teacher calls out the words in French. NEWLY ADDED FOR 2019: There’s 2 rounds of an interactive Hexagons Game, where teams compete to make a trail of correct translations of Halloween vocabulary across the screen. Finally, the last 30+ slides form the memory game ‘Kim’s Game’, which could be played in teams, with students working out which images are missing each time and giving the word in French. The additional PDF version of the presentation will help those without PowerPoint access. It allows you to teach the vocabulary but does not retain the mouse-click interactivity of the original. The Hexagons Game also does not work without the interactivity and has therefore been omitted from the PDF version. FLASHCARDS Most of the Halloween words (23 in total) feature on these for classroom display. Please check out more of my work: Huge Basics Bundle **Thank you for your interest.
